No Vengo Solo Hip Hop Tour

Olmeca is a prolific writer who deftly depicts his upbringing and gives social commentary with energy, charisma and intelligence. In the vein of Fela Kuti, Mercedes Sosa, Nina Simone, Olmeca’s music takes its place amongst thought-provoking art that denounces the perceived mainstream culture.
Olmeca’s impoverished life in South Central, East L.A. and Rosemead, CA are shared by an entire generation. Born in Los Angeles, Olmeca’s family moved from Mexico to the U.S., becoming part of the cheap labor market in... the U.S. It is a reality that provided experience, perspective and inspiration for his music and activism. “not having food to eat and living on the street, taught me the simple reality of what is just and unjust…” Olmeca says.
Music.

Olmeca is a talented lyricist that has been compared to music greats Zack de la Rocha and Talib Kweli. He’s received accolades from Legendary Hip Hop radio show hosts Carmelita (The Wake Up Show) Sway (MTV) and Tech (The Wake Up Show), LA Weekly, La Opinion, Divine Forces Radio and many more.
His unique music production in both English and Spanish is a talent that is increasingly hard to find, but that he has mastered brilliantly. In doing so he has gained the respect of his peers; from underground artists and fans to well-known names in the industry.

He’s toured and performed with iconic bands like Ozomatli, KRS One, Dilated Peoples, Julieta Venegas, the late Joe Strummer, and Saul Williams, Ivy Queen and has collaborated with Black Eyed Peas member Taboo, and Mexico legends La Maldita Vecindad, Wil-Dog Abers (Ozomatli), La Marisoul (Grammy nominated La Santa Cecilia). He has toured the U.S., Mexico, Canada performing at the popular Under the Volcano and Folk Festival.
Olmeca has also been featured on: ABC 7 (L.A.), Mun2 TV, Al Borde Magazine, La Opinion,L.A. Weekly, O.C. Weekly, Left Turn Magazine, ABC 15 (Phoenix),World Famous Wake Up Show and Fox 10 (Arizona).

He is currently finishing his next full-length album “Brown is Beautiful.” In addition, he is working with Bambu (Soul Assassins), Abstrac Rude (Project Blowed / Rhymesayers), notable producer Mexican With Guns and Raul Pacheco (Ozomatli) and recording the much anticipated full-length album with crew Acid Reign.

Olmeca’s efforts have been looked at with great attention. He is considered someone who speaks from the perspective of a participant and not an observer. Olmeca is founder of Urban PEACE Movement (UPM), an organization that develops youth gatherings, art programs, cultural events, and spaces for dialogues that address identity, culture and struggles within the native urban community, as well as, the growing brown communities in the U.S. In addition, Olmeca is part of ARMA Collective, a group dedicated to political development and training. Currently, ARMA & UPM are supporting with resources to help fund the next Congreso Nacional Indigena in Baja California. Please visit www.armacollective.com for more information.
Olmeca’s unique experiences and upbringing have been an example for motivation and reflection.
